Harvesting Hydroponic Mustard Greens in the Sciencepreneur Program at SMP Bilingual Terpadu

Seventh-grade students in the Sciencepreneur program at SMP Bilingual Terpadu successfully harvested hydroponic mustard greens on Monday, April 22, 2024. The activity took place in the school’s greenhouse and was part of the educational curriculum aimed at teaching students entrepreneurship through hydroponic farming techniques. This program equips students with practical skills that can be applied in real-world settings, particularly in modern agriculture.

The process of growing hydroponic mustard greens began with seed germination. After about a week, the seedlings were transferred to the hydroponic system. During the growth phase, the students took turns checking the water levels in the reservoirs and adding AB mix nutrients to ensure the mustard greens grew healthily and robustly. As a result, the greens were ready for harvest in a month.

The students were enthusiastic about seeing the fruits of their labor ready for harvest. The harvested mustard greens were then sold within the school area. The teachers at SMP Bilingual Terpadu showed high enthusiasm in purchasing the hydroponic mustard greens produced by the students. It is hoped that through this program, students can develop skills and contribute to the application of technology in the field of agriculture in the future. (AHP)
